Modern societies nowadays expect transparency in order to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources. Here, the Extraction Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) has been instrumental in articulating an international standard on how information is disclosed along the extractive industry value chain. Along this value chain, it encompasses aspects such as how extraction rights are awarded, how revenues make their way through government, or how they benefit the public.
