Each deposit model should be improved by a process called ‘reconciliation’. This means that the tonnes and grades or qualities predicted by the model should be compared to the actually mined tonnes of the production. During this process, a general overestimation or underestimation of the model can be identified and repaired. This model-to-mine reconciliation can be a rather tricky task. First, a good and reliable log of the production tonnes must be available. Then, the mining engineer must be very careful to compare the same tonnes from the exact same location.
