In circular economies, industrial processes are based on ‘make-use-return’ activities. Here, mining remains an important part of the newly-established circular systems (Figure 4.2), and mining now focusses not only on resource provision but also on waste reduction, reprocessing, recycling or reuse. Mining will remain part of our modern societies for some time.
