Liquid metal reactor for methane pyrolysis – here setup 3.1. Methane is blown in from bottom to top by a gas purging stone. The reactor has a maximum melt volume of 4.40 dm3. This system operates by the same means as before but is more sophisticated. Separation of hydrogen and carbon is performed by the ceramic hot gas filter and supported by a conveyor screw. More thermocouples are installed, to monitor the whole system in the melt, the reactor chamber on top and in the space leading up to the hot-gas filter. There is also a high degree of automation in the areas of controls, experiment execution, data acquisition, and data analysis. The main objective of this system is to investigate higher gas flow rates and temperatures.
