Mining ‘creates’ raw materials on basis of the factors of production (nature, labour and capital). Mining engineers know that raw materials are geographically distributed uneven on earth and that every deposit is individual. As there is no “standard-solution” for mining sites, it is important to ask weather this part of the deposit should be mined right now or later with a greater benefit. In order to successfully address all these topics, a sophisticated mine plan is required. A deposit model is a very vital part for the whole mine plan and stands at the very beginning of the process. It is derived from any geological exploration and interpretation. While modern mine planners in industry use modern technologies and high-end software to create deposit models and mine plans, this book introduces virtual and mixed reality elements to the education of next generation mining engineers.
